Betting pre-season football is about as pointless as the state of Ohio. Or academics at The Ohio State University. I am tired of the fact that THE precludes Ohio State University. Tell me friends from Ohio, when your brethren get arrested from drunk driving (see Krenzel) or possession of firearms AND drunk driving, do you say THE bail bond is set for 5 million? Or, THE most corrupt program in college sports?

I have held out on my obligatory 3 pre-season picks because no amount of study or prognostication skills can assure a cover when key players are yanked after the op3nint series. I shut her down pretty hard for the offseason given what happened in early February when the NFL handed the Pittsburgh Steelers their 5th superbowl in 40 years. Professional wrestling seemed less rigged after watching that game. Wounds licked, I return to place wagers for the love of competition (me versus Vegas that is).

Miami at Tampa Bay (-2). I say Tampa Bay.

Culpepper won't play much. In will come Harrington. We know what happens next. As much as it pains me to say it, Joey Harrington should go back to the fine state of Oregon and coach prep football or grow Pinot Noir grapes. Miami's secondary is week and Simms will be one of the many young QBs to break out this season. I like the home dog only giving 2.
